Kolloquium „Europäische Gesellschaften im digitalen Zeitalter“

25-06-2018 until 26-06-2018, GSI (Seminar number 7/401/18)

(English version below)

English version

Together with the Slow Media Institute, the GSI starts a European exchange on the state and challenges of digital societies. Solution models on the aspects of digitalisation, vulnerability of democracies and populism are compiled and debated transnationally. This colloquium "European Societies in the Digital Age" will kick off with an international convention on 25 and 26 June at GSI in Bonn.

All those who are personally or professionally concerned with the issues of the digital society, Europe and the future viability of democracy are cordially invited. You can contribute your own perspective and exchange ideas with people from other countries and disciplines.

The idea of the European Colloquium is to find ways and show how digital societies can be constructively shaped and how their potentials can be used „for good". The aim is to stabilise democratic processes and make them less instrumentalisable. A network is being built up that enables transnational opinion-forming, exchanges experiences and thus provides a fertile breeding ground for mature democratic processes.

To this end, the GSI holds satellite events in EU member states in which specific and European relevant current issues are identified and brought together. In video conferences, people are brought into cross-border discussions on key topics. And once a year we will bring all actors together for a convention in Bonn.

We would like to invite you to this year's convention on 25 and 26 June at GSI.

Among the sponsors and partners of the colloquium are the Federal Agency for Civic Education and the EU Commission. Axel Voss, MEP, will open the convention on June 25th at 9am. A message frim Marija Gabriel, European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, will be read to the participants.
